From September 10-12, President Teiji Tominaga led a delegation from Tohoku University to Taiwan. He was accompanied by Executive Vice President Toshiya Ueki, Vice President Fumihiko Imamura, and Associate Executive Vice President Atsuhiro Nakagawa.
On September 10, the delegation met with President Chi-Hung Lin of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), with which Tohoku University has built a track record of cooperation. During the meeting, President Tominaga expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to meet with President Lin again after hosting him at Tohoku University in December of 2024. They went on to exchange opinions about how to further strengthen the collaboration between their two universities, such as through cooperation in the semiconductor field.

The delegation later attended the general meeting of the newly incorporated Tohoku University Taiwan Alumni Association and the celebration of its new status as a corporate entity. At the beginning of the event, President Tominaga greeted the group of about 50 alumni and attendees, congratulating the association on its incorporation and emphasizing the importance of alumni cooperation to the university's development. He also expressed his wish to further support the activities of Taiwanese alumni, who act as a bridge between Taiwan and Japan. During the informal discussions thereafter, he listened to the sentiments and stories about the university shared by attendees from various fields and exchanged information with the goal of strengthening future collaborative efforts.
On the 11th, the delegation visited Taipei Medical University (TMU), which was holding its 2025 International Joint Symposium. The symposium's theme was 'Precision Health: Leading the Future', and there were five participating universities including Tohoku University. President Tominaga shared some opening remarks, and six Tohoku University faculty members gave presentations. Tohoku University and Taipei Medical University have long-standing collaborations in the medical field, and when President Tominaga met with TMU's President Mai-Tsu Wu during his visit, they agreed to work towards further strengthening their cooperation.

Later that afternoon, the Tohoku University delegation visited National Taiwan University (NTU). They engaged in an active exchange of opinions with President Wen-Chang Chen and others regarding specific measures to strengthen research cooperation in strategic fields and promote student exchanges between the two universities. At a signing ceremony thereafter, they concluded the renewal of their university-level agreement and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on student exchange, as well as a newly launched Joint Seed Fund that will start this year. The delegation went on to visit the NTU Cancer Center, where the center director gave them an informative tour of the facilities. This visit to NTU is expected to lead to the further development of cooperative relationships with the universities.
On the last day of the visit, the delegation visited National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT), with which Tohoku University has formed deep cooperative ties through alumni. The delegation received a tour of the campus facilities and met with President Sea-fue Wang and other representatives. Since 2018, the two universities have been engaging in research activities together, including holding an annual joint symposium mainly centered around the Tohoku University Institute of Multidisciplinary 虎扑电竞 for Advanced Materials and the NTUT's College of Engineering. During the discussions, both parties expressed interest in further deepening exchanges in both research and education, including student exchanges.
