On December 16, 2024, a delegation from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) - led by President Chi-Hung Lin and joined by Senior Vice President Chien Chou and Vice President for 虎扑电竞 Wensyang Hsu - visited Tohoku University. The delegation was warmly received during a meeting with Tohoku University's executive leadership: President Teiji Tominaga, Executive Vice President Takafumi Aoki, Asako Sugimoto, Toshiya Ueki, Tsuyoshi Tohyama, and Vice President Masahiro Yamaguchi. Department heads involved in the collaboration also attended the meeting.

Last month, President Tominaga and other members of Tohoku University's executive leadership visited NYCU to sign a revised university-level academic exchange agreement to further solidify the partnership between the two institutions.

This visit provided an opportunity to explore specific promotional measures to facilitate continued cooperation under the revised agreement. Presentations on research in specific fields were held with the goal of initiating new collaborations in areas such as biomedical sciences, AI, disaster science, and the humanities and social sciences, while also strengthening existing joint research in semiconductors, dentistry and industry-academia collaborations. Later in the evening, a general meeting was convened to summarize the discussions from each research field, as well as their views on future prospects.

Finally, the delegation was divided into groups based on their areas of expertise to visit either the NanoTerasu, Tohoku University Hospital, the Center for Innovative Integrated Electronic Systems (CIES), or the Micro System Integration Center (?SIC).

It is hoped that the two universities will continue to build on their existing collaborations and that the revised academic exchange agreement will foster deeper interdisciplinary exchanges and partnerships.
