This October and November, the Tohoku University Fund is appealing to all students, alumni and members of the community to offer encouragement and donations to help two major fundraising campaigns.

Tomoni Programme (aka TomoPro)

This crowdfunding programme invites students to submit an original proposal to realise a dream, tackle a social problem or engage in positive activism to improve their community.

The aim is to give students the chance to impact their own future by crowdsourcing their ideas and building a project with sponsors who share their vision.

Eight new projects for 2024 have been shortlisted and put on the university's crowdfunding platform. The target amount for each project is 500,000 yen, and students will also receive mentorship, professional advice and other non-financial support from alumni and members of the university.

Tohoku University Giving Campaign 2024

Fundraising company Alumnote Inc. is bringing together 100 universities across Japan for another round of the "Giving Campaign," an online charity event that supports student clubs and activities.

More than 90 student clubs from Tohoku University will be vying for votes, messages of support and donations. Clubs will be ranked according to how many votes they get, and the club with the most votes will receive funding support for its activities from the campaign sponsors.

Those who donate to the Tohoku University Fund between October 1 and November 30, 2024 will receive the following special gifts:

• For donations of 100,000 yen or more:
