On May 17, Professor Carmen Caballero Navas, Director of Linguistic Policy at the Vice-rectorate for Internationalization at the University of Granada, visited Tohoku University and met with Executive Vice President Toshiya Ueki.
The two universities maintain an academic exchange agreement, and one of the primary purposes for the visit was to participate in the "Spanish Culture Evenings" event. The event was co-hosted by the University of Granada and the Graduate School of Arts and Letters and was held on May 16 and 17. The two co-hosts also took the opportunity to open discussions about future research collaborations.
In the meeting with EVP Ueki, the two parties discussed the progress made in ongoing research collaborations between the two universities. In addition, the two sides confirmed the possibility of creating a system for the receiving and dispatching of researchers, and of a language training system for students. They hope that both will lead to further exchanges of students, teaching staff and researchers. The possibility of carrying out the medium and long-term exchange of teaching staff and researchers was also discussed.
After the meeting, EVP Ueki escorted the group to the Tohoku University Archives where he introduced its exhibits.
