On November 21, 2024, the president of Tohoku University, Professor Teiji Tominaga, visited Taipei Medical University (TMU) and met with TMU Chairman Ray-Jade Chen and President Mai-Szu Wu. The delegation that accompanied President Tominaga included Executive Vice President Hideo Harigae, Executive Vice President Tsuyoshi Tohyama, Vice President Masahiro Yamaguchi, and Associate Executive Vice President Toshio Miyata.

During the meeting, the Tohoku University delegation learned about the implementation of generative AI at TMU Hospital. One of the successful examples involved the development and utilization of a system that uses AI to significantly reduce the time it takes for doctors and nurses to complete daily patient records. The participants also discussed specific practices currently in place, and the challenges of innovative hospital management.

This visit has the potential to lead to opportunities that further deepen the collaborative relationship between the two universities.
