The Kuroshio is the strongest ocean current in the Western Pacific and impacts the climate, ecosystems, and societies of much of East Asia.
As part of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (UN Ocean Decade), WESTPAC (Regional sub-commission for Western Pacific and its adjacent region), as one subsidiary body of Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC/UNESCO), has established the 2nd Cooperative Study of the Kuroshio and Adjacent Regions (CSK-2) through the collective efforts of WESTPAC member states.
This November, WPI-AIMEC is playing host to the Second International Scientific Symposium of CSK-2, both online and in person.
This two-day symposium will focus on the implications of marine ecosystem changes as well as weather and climate dynamics. Several invited speakers will address important questions shared by both scientific and societal communities regarding the impacts of weather and climate, along with the impact of marine ecosystems change associated with the Kuroshio.
The symposium will also feature an Early Career Ocean Professional session. For the full detailed program of the event, see here.
Interested participants can sign up via the link below.
