Like so many things this year, the TEDxTohokuUniversity Conference will be a little different. It will be held online, with a mix of pre-recorded talks, live discussions and breakout rooms.
The theme is "Hidden," a pun on the Japanese characters for 秘 (hi) which means secret, and 伝 (den) which means teach. The idea being that if we only see what's on the surface, we will miss - or fail to appreciate - the true value hidden underneath.
This event will be a great opportunity to hear from - and interact with - a diverse group of speakers and audience members from around the world.

TED vs TEDx: How Are They Different?
TED is a non-profit organization devoted to spreading ideas, most commonly in the form of short, powerful talks. TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics - from science and business, to arts and social issues - in more than 110 languages.
While TED Talks take a more global approach to issues, TEDx events typically focus on voices in the local community. The 'x' stands for independently organized TED event.
