Tohoku University is celebrating the launch of its Tohoku University Digital Archives (ToUDA) with a special exhibition and lecture showcasing one of the university's most treasured collections: the Delve edition of the Buddhist Canonical Sutra.
In the early 20th century, two Japanese monks, Kawaguchi Ekai and Tada Tokai, undertook perilous journeys to Tibet, eventually bringing these invaluable documents to Japan. Today, the Tohoku University Library preserves the Delve edition of the Buddhist Canonical Sutra. Meanwhile, the Graduate School of Arts and Letters houses documents pertaining to Kawaguchi Ekai.
