Human Sociality Workshop: Comparative Studies of Social Evolution and Historical Dynamics

Humans are highly social animals, often referred to as a "cooperative species."Our ability to cooperate even with unknown individuals on a huge scale, is considered a part of human uniqueness. And this ability can be the basis of large complex societies, eventually leading to state formation.

However, cooperation and complex societies are ubiquitous in animal societies. Thus, explaining the uniqueness of human sociality in the animal kingdom requires cooperative and interdisciplinary research.

This workshop will bring together a range of experts - from evolutionary ecology to archaeology - in an interdisciplinary discussion on human and animal sociality. It will be an opportunity for all participants to explore and better understand the peculiarities of the sociality of humans as animals.
