The Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine - Miyagi Community Health Promotion Program in collaboration with the Miyagi Prefecture Diabetes Prevention Council will hold free diabetes screenings to coincide with World Diabetes Day on November 14. World Diabetes Day is a large-scale campaign to raise awareness on diabetes, with events taking place all around the world.
The World Diabetes Day logo is the blue circle, a logo which was adopted in 2007 to mark the passage of the United Nations World Diabetes Day Resolution. The colour blue reflects the sky that unites all nations. The blue circle signifies the unity of the global diabetes community in response to the diabetes pandemic.

In solidarity with the awareness campaign, towers, monuments, parks, and hospitals, will light the sky with blue at various locations throughout Japan. In Sendai, the Sendai TV Broadcasting Tower and the statue of the famous samurai Date Masamune will both be lit from November 7~November 14, from 6pm until midnight.

5. Poster presentation on lifestyle related diseases
