Nihon Hidankyo, also known as the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in December 2024, and co-chairperson Dr. Terumi Tanaka had the honour of speaking at the award ceremony.

In recognition of Tanaka's lifelong dedication to peace and his contributions as a former faculty member at Tohoku University, he will be presented with the university's International Award at a commemorative ceremony this March.
At the ceremony, Tanaka will also deliver a speech titled "A Message to the Next Generation: Paving the Way for a Peaceful Future." He will share his experience as a survivor of the Nagasaki atomic bombing and speak about Nihon Hidankyo's efforts toward the abolition of nuclear weapons.
