1. Student Safety

• Processing of successful examinees for the early stage exam will be delayed until March 27 (Sun.) Announced on the website.
• Cancellation arrangements are under way for degree conferment ceremony Farewell address from the President will be printed and distributed. Degrees will be distributed as soon as possible. The departments will handle this. Departments will handle contacting persons who still have not been contacted. Thank-you messages to students will also be enclosed. Materials will be sent by post.
• It will be difficult to hold the late stage examination due to infrastructure and transportation conditions. The late stage examination, scheduled for April 11 (Mon.), will be canceled; selection of students will be based on the students' Center Examination scores, and application documents. • The entrance ceremony was scheduled for April 22 (Fri.), but the gymnasium is unusable. It is also difficult to coordinate with Tohoku Gakuin. Under the circumstances, it is impossible to hold the ceremony. The normal ceremony has been canceled; instead each faculty/graduate school will make arrangements. Will be approved by Departmental Head Council March 17.
• Additional foreign embassies which have instructed or ordered their citizens to return to their home countries are as follows: Brazil, China. China has made announcements on the embassy website and arranged bus service. Yesterday, 67 Chinese students from Tohoku University traveled to Niigata.
• Each department announced safety confirmation information. Graduate school students are being handled by their departments; faculty students are handled by class advisers. Community sites and groupware are being used in some departments too.
• We are preparing an online registration system that will enable international students who have departed for their home countries to confirm they are safe.
• Although some extra-departmental facilities (Katahira martial arts hall and gymnasium) have been deemed safe by the Facilities Department, they are not considered safe by the Student Services Division and are off limits.
• Approval received for canceling the late stage examination and conventional entrance ceremony.

2. Supplies & Contributions

• Some overseas universities have extended offers of assistance. An inquiry was received from the president of G?ttingen University. We are working on administrative procedures for receiving such support. Offers of assistance will probably increase hereafter. We wish to set up a clear liaison and system for receiving supplies and monetary contributions.
• Requests for the following supplies have been sent to Kokudaikyo Service Ltd. and MEXT: food, drinking water, masks, medical supplies, and kerosene.
• Yamagata University is the liaison for Kokudaikyo, and is coordinating with them for us.
• Rain has been leaking into university buildings, so we urgently requested tarpaulins.

3. Facilities

• Emergency safety inspections will be completed on March 16th or 17th at the latest. Katahira 60%, Kawauchi 80%, Aobayama (2) 100%, Seiryo 100%, Amamiya 100% completed. Aobayama (1) is being inspected by Prof. Maeda (School of Engineering); results will be reported on March 17. Things are proceeding with support from Yamagata University.
• Electricity: Katahira 80%, Kawauchi 80%, Aobayama (1) 5%, Aobayama (2) 95%, Seiryo 100%, Amamiya 100% restored. Work is proceeding carefully at the Institute for Materials 虎扑电竞. Preparations have not been completed at Aobayama (1), so no request to restore electricity has been made yet. As there were water leaks in Aobayama (2), electricity cannot be restored in some places. In Amamiya, battery discharge repairs are under way in some places.
• Water: Katahira 80%, Kawauchi 80%, Seiryo 100% restored. As with electricity, work is proceeding carefully at the Institute for Materials 虎扑电竞. Pump control repairs underway at Aobayama (1) and (2). How long this will take is to be determined. Amamiya buildings have water leaks at a number of places; water will be restored pending repairs.

4. Systemic Improvements

• There is a huge amount of administrative work related to the restoration process. Systemic improvements must be made.
